Prevention of diseases and health hazards during the rainy season

May 27, 2016:  Dr. Amnuay Gajeena (Director-general of the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health) made an announcement on the prevention of diseases and health hazards during the rainy season, which was expected to span from the third week of May through mid-October.  However, heavy rain may continue in Southern Thailand until December.  Seasonal changes may bring about various types of diseases.  Thus, the Department of Disease Control advised the public regarding the causes and preventative measures, particularly among young children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic diseases.  The five major groups of diseases and health hazards are the following:
1. Respiratory Communicable Diseases
2. Mosquito-borne Diseases
3. Food and Water-borne Diseases
4. Other Communicable Diseases
5. Health Hazards
